Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative lay. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offers age-appropriate activities to guide the process.

 Montessori observed how young people learn best when engaged in purposeful activity rather than simply being fed information. She recognized that children’s cognitive growth and development requires the construction of an educational framework that respects individuality and fulfills the needs of the “whole child.”
